The Jays & Magpies

Even if they were not so intelligent, and not so animated in their behaviors, the jays, magpies, and many of the the corvids (family Corvidae) would be attractive to us for their plumages, only a minority of which are uniform in color. Siberian Jay, a species we look for on our new FINLAND: WOLVERINES, OWLS & WILD-WILD GROUSE tour, has rich rufous tones in wings and tail to complement its soft grays and browns. These colors probably help it blend well with the palette of its taiga haunts. Oh, yes, and welcome to the latest BIRDS OF A FEATHER show! Photo by Jari Peltomäki.
