Colima and Jalisco are two small states in western Mexico. What they have between them is a great diversity of habitats, from coastline and large marshes (seen here) to highland pine-oak forest. Western Mexico is an endemic-rich area in a country that is absolutely unique as far as its avifauna goes. Mexico is a gem of a nation for birders, and hey, it's right next door for many of us!
