The second part of the tour takes us to the highlands at the base of the two peaks of the Volcan de Colima complex. The northern mountain is the Volcan de Nieve (Snow Volcano), while the southern one is known as the Volcan de Fuego (Fire Volcano). This is one of Mexico's most active volcanos, and it's often smoking during our visit to the site. Apart from the scenic splendor, the highlands offer us moist and dense montane forests higher up, and dry scrub and shrub in the lower areas.
