We start our tour is in the lowlands of Jalisco, where a shrubby, dry forest is the predominant habitat. Here there is a great deal of special stuff to see, as well as more widespread species. Among the specialties is the pretty Red-breasted Chat. There are three species in this genus Granatellus, currently considered warblers although brand new information has them shifting to the cardinal-grosbeak group! The Red-breasted Chat is a Western Mexican endemic.
