To a great many birders the widespread Great Kiskadee has deep significance. It is emblematic of the birds to be found "south of the border" and reliably observed in the US only in the lower Rio Grande Valley, but common from Mexico to Argentina. To many of us, hearing the kiskadee is a sure sign you are birding the Neotropics....and how sweet it can be!
