The north shore of Lake Erie is the northernmost limit for many more southern species. In Canada, they are referred to as the Carolinian species, of which Hooded Warbler is one. It is not a common migrant at Pelee, although it shows up there of course. But venturing to some spots on our tour where these birds breed, along with other goodies such as Cerulean Warbler, allows us a great chance to find these southern species if we do not see while observing migration at Pelee itself.
