Egyptian Plover, often a "most wanted" on our African tours, is the only member of the genus Pluvianus and now also the only member of the monotypic family Pluvianidae (formerly, it was placed in Glareolidae, with coursers and pratincoles). Once called "crocodile bird," it was believed to pick scraps of food from the teeth of dozing Nile Crocodiles! Thanks to Gregg Recer for this shot.
